Course Details:
Clicking on the any of the ‘ENROL ME’ buttons on this page takes you to the enrolment form for the Basic Photography Course offered by the Ivanhoe Photographic Society. The course will be offered over a 6 week period. This includes 5 consecutive weeknight training sessions (7.30-9.30pm) at the Bellfield Community Hub in Daphne Crescent Bellfield, plus two supervised Sunday morning practical sessions outside to take photographs. The course dates and times are:
1st Training Session: Tuesday 20th Feb 2024 7.30pm Bellfield Community Hub

Basic of aperture, shutter, etc. Using your camera. Composition.
2nd Training Session: Wednesday 28th Feb 2024 7.30pm Bellfield Community Hub
Leaders: Jim Sonnemann and David Davies
Technical basics. Using your camera. Composition.
1st Practical Session: Sunday 3rd March 2024 at 9am. Location: La TrobeUniversity

3rd Training Session: Tuesday 5th March 2024 7.30pm Bellfield Community Hub
Leader: Peter Bellmont
Organising your photos. Basics of post-processing.
4th Training Session: Tuesday 12th March 2024 7.30pm Bellfield Community Hub
Leader: Dale Murphy, with other covering their area of specialisation
Looking at the different genres of photography. Hands-on where possible.
5th Training Session: Tuesday 19th March 2024 7.30pm Bellfield Community Hub
Leaders: Rob Morgan
Review and advanced topics.
2nd Practical Session: Sunday 24th March 2024 at 9am. Location to be advised.

A normal club outing.
Final: Monday 15th April: Normal club meeting

Review of participants' photos.
The first training session is aimed at making you familiar with your camera controls, such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc., but please note that aperture control is not available on phone-cameras and you may need to upgrade your camera app to access the other controls.
The total course fee is $119. Please bank transfer this amount into the following account and use your full name as your identifier when you do the transfer. It would be helpful if you could email a copy of this notice of transfer to president@ips.org.au and secretary@ips.org.au. Your enrolment will be confirmed when we confirm this payment.

Your enrolment gives you free membership over 2024 in our club, the Ivanhoe Photographic Society. This has a value of $100. Our first meeting of the year is just the day before, on Monday 19th February, which you are able to attend as a member. Our club meets in the evenings of the 3rd Monday of every month, so you can attend all these meetings too! You can also enter our club competitions, which are a great way to get feedback on your photos and improve your photography.
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE: We will print and frame an A3 version of the best photo you take during this course. This has a value of at least $100 if you did it yourself!
