Projected Image of the Year
Bentons Trophies
In late 1962, Don Benton, the founder of IPS, donated the first club trophy, which was designated by the Committee for colour slide of the year. This first Benton’s Trophy was used from 1962 until 1998, when it was replaced by the second Benton’s Perpetual Trophy.
The second Benton’s Perpetual Trophy was only used for six years, until 2004, even though it had plenty of capacity for award engravings remaining. The reason has to do with the transition from slides to digital, The Benton’s trophy had been engraved for the ‘Transparency of the Year’.
Peter Bellmont Trophy
A replacement trophy was donated by Peter Bellmont, a past IPS President and Life Member of the Society, for the ‘Projected Image of the Year’, and was dedicated in Peter’s honour to become the Peter Bellmont Trophy. This trophy is still used for the PI of the year as at 2021.
Duane Eaks Trophy
Since 2011, IPS has also awarded the Duane Eaks Trophy to the best PI of the year for a B-Grade member, named in honour of Duane Eaks, past IPS President and Life Member. With the removal of grades in 2020, this trophy is not currently active.
